Trump: Religious Freedom

Religious Freedom: Democrats often challenge the faith of Christians who support the President. Democrats maintain that the President’s behavior is irreconcilable with his profession of faith … and that of his supporters. That is a lie. They couldn’t be more wrong. President Trump once said that “[O]ur Founders understood that no right is more fundamental to a peaceful, prosperous, and virtuous society than the right to follow one’s religious convictions.” He has worked tirelessly to fulfill his campaign promise to work to protect and promote our fundamental First Amendment right to religious liberty.

The Administration is and has been an unparalleled champion of religious freedom. During his first year in office, President Trump: (1) signed an Executive Order upholding religious liberty and protecting religious speech; (2) President Trump established the Faith and Opportunity Initiative in recognition of the essential contributions of faith based communities; (3) the Administration continues to unequivocally stand up for religious liberty in the courts; (4) President Trump reversed the Obama-era policy that prevented the government from providing disaster relief to religious/faith based organizations; (5) President Trump hosted a UN event “Global Call to Protect Religious Freedom” to call on the international political and business communities to purpose to protect religious freedom around the world; and (6) the Administration has partnered with a variety of faith-based organizations to assist vulnerable religious minorities and stand up for religious liberty around the world.

The Administration has been working hard to ensure that religious organizations are treated equally by the Federal government: (1) the Administration is issuing nine proposed rules to protect religious organizations from unfair and unequal treatment by the Federal government removing restrictive Obama-era requirements that unfairly imposed “unique regulatory burdens only on religious organizations”; (2) OMB is also releasing regulatory guidance requiring Federal agencies to comply with the First Amendment; and (3) the Administration is committed to ensuring religious organizations can compete on a level playing field for funding, without discrimination.

Is a President Trump a Christian? He has professed his faith and he has implemented policies to ensure that Americans are free to practice their religion of choice as an exercise of conscience and their fundamental First Amendment right. The President’s track record make him the easy choice of people of faith of all denominations. Democrats want to shame you into believing that the President isn’t a Christian because his tweets hurt their politically weaponized feelings. As Christians, we understand that the measure of his salvation isn't the opinion of those who hate and oppose him or even his own behavior, situationally. It's time to abandon the political sophistry and uninformed pretend biblical intuition and sensibilities of people who are largely secular humanists and have no real idea what they’re talking about.

For people of faith, there is no other choice.
