Friday, December 7: Tonight, 'we' light the sixth candle. God spoke the world into existence in six days. Each candle commemorates the power of God’s words as He spoke life into His creation. The first candle is for the first day when He commanded that there be a separation of the light from the dark. (Genesis 1:1-5). The second candle is for the second day and placement of the dome of the sky. An ever present reminder of His limitless possibility. (Genesis 1:6-7). The third candle is for the third day where he created the land for firm footing and plants for sustenance. (Genesis 1:9-12) The fourth candle is for the fourth day and His creation of a light to rule over the light and the darkness. (Genesis 1:14-19). The fifth candle is for the fifth day when he filled the air with birds and the sea with fish. (Genesis 1:20-23). The sixth candle is for the sixth day and the creation of animals large and small and human beings in his image, blessed them and gave man dominion over His creation. (Genesis 1:24-31).
Undeniably, there is life, protection and power in God’s Word.
Praise be to God.
